Greenability 2014 and what's next?

Over 130 people attended the Greenability Conference at the end of October - from a fantastic diversity of organisations from across the central belt and beyond. Feedback to date has been very positive and we are delighted with the high levels of enthusiasm and commitment towards increasing access to the outdoors for people with a disability. At TCV Scotland, the development wheels are in motion and this month we will be promoting our range of exciting learning opportunities, workshops and resources which we hope will help facilitate long lasting partnerships between environmental and disability organisations.

Greenability included a range of excellent presentations which are available here: http://www.slideshare.net/TCVScotland

Following on from the conference we will be holding three further half day workshops between Dec 2014 and March 2015 in response to the conference evaluation and popularity of some of the conference workshop sessions. There is no charge for these workshops:

  • Exploring Nature Play, including biodiversity games and sensory play in the outdoors, for children and young people with disabilities - Tuesday 2 December, 10 - 1pm. TCV Scotland Edinburgh Office, The Granary, 44 Mortonhall Gate, Edinburgh EH16 6TJ.
  • Forest Skills & cooking outdoors - simple steps to enjoying food in the outdoors, fire lighting and woodland activities - Friday 16 January 2015, 10 - 1pm and  Green Gym training 2pm - 5pm (bring your own lunch if attending both sessions)  - TCV Scotland Edinburgh Office, The Granary, 44 Mortonhall Gate, Edinburgh EH16 6TJ.
  • Nature recording - Citizen Science (Nature Recording) is a great way for people to engage with the local environment and make a difference by collecting and recording vital information about the world around us. In this workshop we will provide you with the skills and confidence to start using Citizen Science with your group and try a number of suitable recording activities. Tuesday 24 March, 10-1pm - TCV Scotland Edinburgh Office, The Granary, 44 Mortonhall Gate, Edinburgh EH16 6TJ.

If you would like to attend any of the above please contact Tricia Burden for booking details.
