Volunteering Events

You are here

We have a range of practical opportunities for people to get involved in volunteering at Skelton Grange - including wildlife surveys, training events and practical volunteer days.

Please see below for details and get in touch if you need any more information. We welcome new volunteers at all times, so please come along, but please get in touch to let us know if you're planning to come along to any of the events (there's a short registration form at the bottom of this page).

All events take place at Skelton Grange Environment Centre unless specified otherwise below.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for all events.

Directions to the centre can be found here.

Regular Friday Volunteering - The Green Team

Join the Green Team at Skelton Grange Environment Centre - regular opportunities for everyone to come along and help out with some practical tasks on our site. You don't need any experience, just enthusiasm!

  • Please arrive from 9:30am for cup of tea ready for a 10:00am start.
  • Generally sessions run until 3:30pm unless advertised otherwise.
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting mucky, and dress for the weather.

Friday 3rd October - Open Day organising

Getting things ready for the big event of the year - the Skelton Grange Open day, which takes place the next day, on Saturday the 4th of October. There will be lots to do around the site to prepare for the big event.

Wildlife Surveying

Our annual wildlife surveying programme continues with bat and butterfly surveys this Summer. Some of these events are evening events as the animals are nocturnal! Times may be updated nearer the event to coincide with nightfall.

  • For the evening surveys - wrap up warm as we will be outside and keeping still! Bring a torch if you have one, although spares will be available at the centre
