Volunteers celebrating Watford Green Gym's second birthday

Recently the Watford Green Gym celebrated its 2nd Anniversary with a session of making bird and bat boxes and a picnic. Guests included Elected Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill, representatives from Capital Shopping Centres, Ian Mather from Watford Council and 20 regular volunteers.

The Watford Green Gym has had a hugely successful year improving the access and biodiversity of the Colne River Park. This has included planting a wildflower meadow, a native hedge and over 700 trees. A huge amount of the invasive Himalayan Balsam has been removed from the site so this year it barely came up. The paths and access in the area has also been greatly improved by vegetation clearance and path widening. We also planted 500 native trees along the Radlett Road as part of The Big Tree Plant.

Come and join us to help the environment, make new friends and get active.
