Alien Battle In Leeds

Man removing Himalayan Balsam

The Conservation Volunteers at Skelton Grange in Leeds are set to take on some alien invaders this spring and summer.

The environmental centre's site is currently playing host to the highly invasive Himalayan Balsam, which if left untreated could disrupt the delicate balance which supports plants and wildlife at the centre.

Volunteers and staff are determined to rid the site of the unwelcome visitor and be working hard to protect the environmental centre.

The work has been made possible thanks to funding from Yorkshire Water through WREN, a not-for-profit business that helps benefit the lives of people who live close to landfill sites by distributing grants for community, conservation and heritage projects.
