Volunteers standing by raised vegetable beds

Meet Abby!

You are here

Abby cross-cutting a felled tree

Hello everyone, I’m Abby, the new Project Officer for the midweek volunteers. I started in June, but it wasn’t my first introduction to the midweek group, as I had volunteered with them in March before I got the job. They’re a lovely bunch, and I’m so glad to be working with them.

I first got involved with The Conservation Volunteers in South Yorkshire, when I attended a few of their courses during my internship. I attended courses for hedge-laying, tree-felling (as you can see in the picture), and path-making. I'm sure I'll be able to make use of these skills.

When I moved back to Manchester and learnt about the midweek group, I was eager to join in, and help maintain and look after the green spaces in Greater Manchester.

So far, we’ve been busy pulling Himalayan Balsam, willow weaving, building fences, and planting wildflowers in canals. I already love working here and look forward to my future with TCV.

If you’re interested in volunteering with us, why not come down and say hi.
