The Conservation Volunteers staff in Belfast celebrated winning the Sustrans Active Belfast Challenge and picked up a brilliant trophy made from recycled bicycle parts, at a celebration event.
The challenge aimed to encourage people to ditch the car keys and opt for a more sustainable method of transport throughout the month of May. Healthier journeys such as walking, cycling and using public transport were logged on the SustransNI website and TCV won the challenge in the Small workplace category by logging over 900 healthy journeys.
The website converted the journeys into healthy stats and the challenge resulted in the team saving 1405kg CO2, burning 142405 calories (the equivalent to 595 doughnuts!!) and £1813 was saved on fuel!
TCV were one of only two organisations to have 100% participation in the workplace as colleagues from the Health and Communities, Training and Laurel Glen Teams pulled together in a great example of the One Team ethos.
