Green Gym Garden Party

You are here

Green-fingered pupils at Cumnock Academy are hosting a garden party on Wednesday 15th June to celebrate their new school growing space which they developed during their Green Gym project - one of eight to be run in East Ayrshire Secondary schools over the past 6 months.

The school Green Gyms have been run by TCV with East Ayrshire Council and its Learning Outdoors Support Team. TCV's Susan Rutherford says: "The Green Gyms are fun outdoor sessions where the pupils take part in hands-on activities such as planting trees, sowing wildflower meadows and as shown here - creating Minion potato planters! The garden party is a great showcase for Cumnock Academy pupils to demonstrate their handiwork including their rejuvenated raised beds and vegetable plots. I'm delighted that staff in all 8 academies have been trained-up in the Green Gym approach, so they can continue working with their pupils to improve their learning experience and enhance their school greenspaces."
