Reflections of Spring is an exciting new project being run with ten local schools, to help introduce the concepts and problems caused by climate change, habitat loss and unintended hybridisation.
Over the next nine months, TCV will be working with up to 330 schoolchildren, helping them to understand the problems these things can cause. As well as some fun, classroom work, they'll all be involved in planting 7,500 native primroses and 7,500 native bluebells along the Kennet & Avon Canal, between Reading and Devizes, Each child will also be given a 'bluebell growing kit' to take home, to help demonstrate the time and care needed for even one bluebell plant to grow large enough to flower. We're sourcing our bluebell bulbs and seeds from a supplier that's licensed to grow, harvest and sell indigenous, British bluebells.
If you work with any local schools and would like to take part, please do let us know, as we still have a few spaces left on the programme.
