Reviving Hampshire's Community Ponds

You are here

Ponds in Hampshire are essential for wildlife and very important to local communities. However, many are neglected and under threat.

This two-year project is enabling community groups and local people to find out more about their local ponds, as well as help preserve and manage them.

We're recruiting and training 100 Pond Champions, who will survey and record historic information on at least 200 ponds.  We'll be featuring the details of every single pond on this site too.  If you're interested in becoming one of our Champions, let us know.

The information we’re gathering on the wildlife, history and stories of the ponds are being made available here (from August 2016) and through a project exhibition and book.

We’re also working to establish an independent volunteer group, which will be able to continue to carry out management work on ponds in Hampshire once this project finishes in April 2018.

All our events and projects will be advertised below.  And come and say hi to us on Facebook too.

We also run the Hampshire Biodiversity Action Team too.
