Wildlife in the UK is in crisis, with biodiversity levels among the lowest in the world.
There is a shortage of people in the UK with the conservation green skills needed to protect and restore nature and help increase biodiversity.
Conservation green skills training helps in the fight to increase biodiversity
By equipping people with the skills and knowledge needed to protect and restore natural habitats, conservation green skills training can play a crucial role in the fight to increase biodiversity.
In 2024-25, TCV staff provided training to thousands of volunteers, community groups and other conservation-based organisations. Courses range from accredited training courses to practical skills training, habitat management and wider environmental knowledge, covering topics such as managing ponds or woodlands, creation of wildlife areas, building steps or bridges, hedge laying and dry stone walling.

You can help ensure more people can gain the knowledge and skills needed to increase biodiversity by donating.
How can conservation green skills training help?
Training can provide the essential skills needed to help rebuild biodiversity in the UK, as it can:
- Help teach the knowledge and techniques needed to restore habitats and weakened ecosystems
- Develop an understanding of the methods needed to protect and conserve different species of wildlife
- By involving local communities, training can encourage a sense of ownership of the problems and needs of community green spaces and provide the practical and sustainable skills that are required
You can help ensure the delivery of more conservation green skills training in the coming year
A donation to The Conservation Volunteers can help ensure that more individuals have access to practical education and training programmes over the coming year.
