Wildlife in the UK is in crisis, and we are in the bottom 10% of all countries globally for biodiversity.
In the UK around half of our native biodiversity remains, compared to a global average of 75%.
You can help by supporting TCV’s Biodiversity Action Teams and make a difference in local communities.
What is biodiversity and why does it matter?
Biodiversity refers to the variety of native species of plants, animals, bacteria and fungi that live in the varied habitats we have in the UK.
Biodiversity underpins everything humans need for survival – from fresh water to plants and medicines. To support the ecosystems we rely on, we need a wide variety of plant, animal and microorganisms to provide the air we breathe and the food we eat.
Research shows that conservation work is successful in helping to halt and reverse biodiversity loss.
How TCV is making a difference
Our Biodiversity Action Teams get involved in many different activities such as woodland management, pond maintenance, invasive species control, habitat creation, tree and hedgerow planting, and wildflower meadow management.
Through our work, our staff and volunteers protect and restore natural habitats helping native plant and wildlife species to thrive.
We can only continue to do this work with your support.
Donate today and support our Biodiversity Action Teams to continue their work.
Help create a more biodiverse future
