Volunteering at Railway Fields

We work with hundreds of volunteers every year and as our name suggests, volunteers are at the core of what we do. There are always volunteering opportunities where you can participate, regardless of experience.

Volunteering with The Conservation Volunteers not only allows you to learn new skills, meet new people and improve your fitness, but you will discover new places you never knew existed. We provide the tools, gloves, leadership, green expertise and first aid as well as FREE tea, coffee and biscuits; just to sweeten the deal!

Upcoming activities

We lead volunteering at Railway Fields and in many other green spaces around the borough of Haringey. Our volunteer days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Employee Action Days

Companies are increasingly committed to demonstrating corporate social responsibility, and organising an Employee Action Day is an excellent way to give something back to the local community and the environment, and at the same time giving a fantastic opportunity for staff team building and personal development outside of the normal working environment.

Claiming benefits

People often worry that they will lose benefits if they volunteer. The Conservation Volunteers is a registered charity and so you are legally entitled to volunteer full time with us and still claim Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and housing benefit, depending upon your domestic arrangements. Many (in fact most) of our staff have volunteered at some point and so please have a chat if you are unsure about your position.
