Bartley Green and Go! Is a free weekly walking and gardening group incorporating food growing and conservation activities.
This project will be a great way to meet new people, make friends, and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Along the way, we will enjoy growing our own tasty vegetables and fruit and learn about traditional conservation activities. The sessions run every Tuesday from 10am until 1pm. Bartley Green and Go! Is kindly funded by Heart of England Community Foundation.
Come with us as we enjoy a gentle stroll around local green spaces.
Meeting at Bartley Green Library, at 10am we head down towards the green corridor alongside Bartley Brook. We will be greeted by birdsong, butterflies, and the delicate sweet fragrance of various wildflowers. We will listen to the gentle bubbling of the brook and watch the clouds drift by overhead.
The walk is a 2km circular route on paved surfaces and is mostly flat. All levels and abilities welcome. We finish off with a nice brew and a biscuit at the library.
Time for some gardening?
After tea break, we head out into the library garden for a spot of gardening and food growing. Our greenhouse will be full of succulent tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers and our raised planters will be heaving with potatoes, carrots, and parsnips. Nothing beats freshly picked produce that you have lovingly nurtured and cared for. We will also be transforming the garden into a nature welcoming haven by creating new habitats and providing homes for our wildlife.
We will have time towards the end of the session to explore the library.
No previous experience is necessary, and all training and tools are provided.
