Growing together with libraries!
Start your food growing journey with free seeds from Bartley Green and Quinton Library.
The seeds are free to library members and are available to collect in person. This is limited to 3 packets per person (in any combination). Stocks are limited.
It’s really easy to join your local library. Follow this link for further details: Joining the library | Library membership | Birmingham City …
The seeds that we have chosen can easily be planted in a pot or suitable container on your windowsill. Fill your pot or container with compost, sow your seeds, place in a sunny spot and water lightly. If you have a garden, you can transfer outside when the plants are big enough (when the weather is milder).
Each library will have a variety of food growing and gardening books for you to borrow to support you.
Getting Started
Seed Varieties:
1. Sunflower Giant Single
2. Tomato Gardeners Delight
3. Classic Italian Basil
4. Coriander Leisure
5. Wildflower – Cornfield Mix
Tomato seeds should be sown inside as early as possible from January onwards. You can feed the plants once you see green tomatoes developing. Basil and coriander can be grown all year round to flavour your cooking. Have fun with a sunflower competition or make your own mini meadow with our colourful wildflower mix.
