Gransnet has chosen to feature TCV as its Charity of the Week ahead of our looming Big Green Weekend.
Gransnet, an offshoot of the very brilliant Mumsnet, and described by The Telegraph as “a new dawn in grey power” – is the busiest social networking site for over 50s with over a quarter of a million monthly users; which represents a huge number of potential visitors to Big Green Weekend activities.
TCV’s Big Green Weekend celebrates 60 years of The Conservation Volunteers with the UK’s biggest celebration of conservation in the community from Friday 20th – Monday 23rd September 2019. There will be events happening across the UK, plus 5 flagship events in Brighton, Leeds, Doncaster, London and Glasgow, kindly supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
At the heart of the Gransnet site is a buzzing forum where users chat about everything from relationships to politics, what’s on TV to household tips. They even have a forum dedicated to work and volunteering and there’s also useful content covering everything from fashion to food, gardening to grandparenting.
TCV groups are hosting a huge number of free family events and activities. These include creating wildlife habitats, quiz trails, campfire cooking, joining a Green Gym, planting trees, or just relishing time in the outdoors, eating delicious food and having fun!
TCV’s annual Big Green Weekend showcases the scale and breadth of the activities we deliver week-in-week-out across the UK. It’s a chance for the Gransnet forum members and their families to join in, feel good and find out more about TCV, the community volunteering charity. It’s also a chance to say a huge thanks to all our amazing volunteers across the UK and celebrate our 60th anniversary.
TCV brings people together, strengthening communities and improving wellbeing. Our volunteers work to protect and enhance our everyday green spaces for the benefit of wildlife and for us all to enjoy; which really is something to celebrate!
