Tasha Harper spent 18 months out of work prior to joining TCV Employment & Training Services on the Work Programme. Although she was making a high volume of applications she found that her applications were often being ignored by employers and she felt that there were far too many people applying for each vacancy in Swindon. We went to meet Tasha at work to find out more about her journey back to work.
Tasha felt that she needed help with changing her career aims from Administration to Retail, rebuilding her CV and improving her interview skills.
After her initial meeting with TCV she was referred to our Employment & Personal Development qualification.
Tasha’s Employment Advisor provided additional support by teaching her how to build tailored CV’s and by keeping her motivated during her journey back to work. She tells us that TCV made an introduction to Aldi, she went on to attend an interview and a short work trial before landing a part time job as Stock Operative at Aldi in Swindon.
Tasha tells us that working has had a wonderful impact on her life; she feels that she can finally breathe because she has more financial freedom. Her social life has also improved because she has met new people through work.
She’s full of optimism for the future and keen to progress at Aldi. Beyond this she hopes to take up any progression opportunities that are available with Aldi as she recognises that they often invest in developing their existing staff.
Before getting back to work Tasha leaves us with a message for people who are out of work “Before this opportunity I didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning, now I have a reason to get up each day. It feels really, really good!”
