Could you answer TCV’s call to Keep Free Fruit Trees Growing in Schools?
The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), is seeking a national partner to fund and ensure the continued supply of free fruit trees to schools as part of its acclaimed “I Dig Trees” community tree-planting programme.
A Chance to Be a Hero
TCV seeks a new partner to enable the supply of 4000 fruit trees for the upcoming tree-planting season, offering up to a thousand more schools the opportunity to get involved with I Dig Trees.
The new partner has a rare opportunity to ensure the ongoing legacy of this phenomenal success story, enabling thousands of children to continue to benefit from learning about the environment, healthy eating, and the origin of their food. With the support of a new partner, TCV can continue to provide free fruit trees to schools, encouraging outdoor learning and a greener future for the next generation.
Douglas Palarm, TCV Director of Partnerships and Fundraising, said:
This is more than just a call for funding; it is a unique opportunity for a partner to become an integral part of the ‘I Dig Trees’ movement, which is transforming communities across the nation. By stepping up, they can empower thousands of children to learn, grow, and connect with nature. Together, we can nurture a brighter future, leaving a lasting legacy in schools and in the hearts and minds of the next generation. If you feel your organisation can help, then please drop us a line.
I Dig Trees from TCV continues to be a huge success, with 3.7 million “communi-trees” planted to date across the UK, creating thousands of species-rich pocket forests, and as part of this programme, hundreds of schools have so far been equipped with fruit trees to create their own mini orchard.
However, the sustainability of this vital aspect of the programme needs your support. With the demand for free fruit trees steadily increasing, securing a funding partner is essential to ensure that this invaluable resource continues to flourish. Could you be our next amazing partner?
By partnering in the “I Dig Trees” initiative as the primary funder for the free fruit tree element, you’ll not only be making a tangible difference in communities nationwide but also reinforcing your own commitment to the natural environment and nature across the UK.
Joe Coles, TCV Tree Programme Manager, said:
Planting fruit trees in school is an incredible way for children to learn about their environment and food production. The simple act of planting a tree can open a whole new world of exploration and learning for someone who hasn’t spent time in nature before. A practical experience of nature in school can and does lead to lifelong passions , and real careers in the environmental sector. We need new environmentalists now more than ever!
If you feel your organisation can get involved and partner with TCV to keep the supply of fruit trees going for schools, please get in touch with TCV Corporate Enquiries at corporate-enquiries@tcv.org.uk.
