At The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) we are proud to announce the appointment of Rebecca Kennelly MBE as our new Chief Executive Officer.
Rebecca joins us from The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), where she served as the Executive Director of UK Operations since July 2021. Prior to that, she was the Director of Volunteering for the Royal Voluntary Service.
Rebecca was awarded an MBE for her service during the COVID-19 response as she was responsible for delivery of the NHS Volunteer Responders scheme that mobilised over 600,000 volunteers to support vulnerable people and the NHS.
In a statement, Rebecca Kennelly said:
“I have a deep-seated love for volunteering, nature, and community, to which I have dedicated much of my professional life. I am personally passionate about the work which TCV does engaging people in conservation and volunteering, having spent many years championing these activities and striving to support those disproportionately affected by inequalities to achieve their potential. In every role I have undertaken, I have been amazed by the passion, kindness, and determination of volunteers to change their communities for the better. I am truly excited and honoured to continue this work with The Conservation Volunteers.”
Jon Towler, Chair of TCV’s Board of Trustees, expressed his delight at Kennelly’s appointment:
I am delighted that Rebecca will be joining TCV in early March. She brings a wealth of experience in executive leadership and strategic development and her deep knowledge of volunteering will be a tangible benefit to supporting and expanding our existing 11,000-strong volunteer base. Having operated at a national level in complex and dispersed organisations, Rebecca’s experience will be a strength in supporting TCV’s many vital projects, which already span the length and breadth of the United Kingdom. As we look to further grow both our income streams and our profile, Rebecca’s track record of building strong senior partnerships across the business sector, national and local government, along with media and third sector organisations will be invaluable.
