On Friday 26th October some of our Leicestershire volunteers teamed up with National Forest and took part in some filming for the BBC One show, Countryfile. This featured in the episode ‘Rural Leicestershire’ and aired on November 18th.
Presenter, Julia Bradbury, joined in the morning’s coppicing session with the volunteers and then later went on to interview our very own Project Officer, Clive Forty.
During the afternoon the groups joined forces and took part in a tree planting challenge to plant as many saplings possible in the short space of an hour. The Conservation Volunteers came top of the list and planted a respectable 658 trees! This was a great team effort on what was a very cold afternoon, so a huge well done!
A big thank you goes out to our staff and volunteers; Clive Forty, Lorrie Forman, Vicky Belcham, Gordon Hill, Peter Teige, Laurence Rowarth, Bez Maunder, Joe Butler, David Lindley, Richard Dawson and David Maltby for working hard together to represent The Conservation Volunteers.
