Our work at Skelton Grange Environment Centre is also keenly supported by the Friends of Skelton Grange, also known as the Slug Group.
The Friends of Skelton Grange is an independent group which supports the work of The Conservation Volunteers at Skelton Grange Environment Centre.
The group runs practical tasks to improve the centre, training opportunities, open days and trips to other projects and locations to help inspire volunteers and generate new ideas. The group recently secured a grant from Community Spaces to create a new nature trail at the centre.
Other recent work has included running a range of community training days at the centre, including bushcraft, wild food and wildlife surveying. The group has also carried out extensive tree planting work to develop new woodland spaces at the centre, and has created a new adventure play trail.
Members of the group receive regular updates about what is going on at the centre, and have an opportunity to feed into our work. If you are a former volunteer from the centre and want to be kept in touch, or are just keen to support the work we do at Skelton Grange then get in touch.

We also need volunteers to help out with the Executive Committee of the Group, in order to assist with planning events and managing the finances of the group.
Slug Days
The Friends of Skelton Grange run Community Volunteering Days (aka Slug Days) at Skelton Grange Environment Centre. These days are a great way to get involved at Skelton Grange, and a good chance to do some volunteering and help to make a difference if you can only spare the occasional day.
Slug Days help us with important maintenance and development work on the wildlife area at Skelton Grange Environment Centre as well as being great fun! Trained leaders will be running the day, and everyone is welcome, whatever their level of experience.
