Last week was a double celebration for The Conservation Volunteers as we found out we received awards from both Green Flag and The Land Trust, with some on the same site!
Green Flag Awards
Eight TCV-managed sites raise the prestigious Green Flag Award after achieving the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – a brilliant achievement in its 30th year of awarding the standard.
We’re amongst a record breaking 2,391 in the UK achieved the award this year – a fantastic testament to the hard work, passion and dedication of the team who care for these green spaces, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard for visitors and residents to enjoy.
The Land Trust Awards
The Conservation Volunteers are proud to work with our partners The Land Trust on a number of green spaces across the UK, using our expertise of both land management and community engagement.
At their annual conference of bringing together their partners, we were delighted to come away with three prestigious awards for 2026.
A highlight of the Land Trust calendar, the Managing Partners Awards celebrate the sites, projects, volunteers, rangers and community groups who are delivering exceptional outcomes across the Land Trust estate. Working alongside managing partners throughout the country, these award-winning sites demonstrate how collaboration can create thriving places for people, nature and communities.

Green Flag Award Winners – Yorkshire

New win for 2026! TCV volunteers work alongside Choose 2 as a part of our Lottery-funded Tang Hall Reach Out programme managing the green space at this urban park.

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Manager at Keep Britain Tidy, said: “Parks are essential public spaces that support our wellbeing, our communities and our economy. Yet for millions of people, particularly in the most deprived areas, local parks simply don’t feel safe or welcoming. With public services under pressure, investing in parks is not a luxury, it’s a practical, preventative solution and one of the most visible ways to improve people’s quality of life.
“The Conservation Volunteers have shown what can be achieved when parks are properly supported and managed. As we celebrate 30 years of the Green Flag Award, we want every community to have access to green spaces like this that are safe, welcoming and maintained to a high standard. The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under contract from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Wellesley Woodlands
- Green Flag Award Winners – 5th year in a row for this site!
- The Land Trust – Best Health Site
Wellesley Woodlands continues to champion health and wellbeing through a broad range of activities, including health walks, Tai Chi, running events and the innovative ScanFit Trail. Accessible routes and sensory experiences ensure the benefits of nature are available to a wide and diverse audience.
South Yorkshire Community Woodlands
- Green Flag Award winners – Kiveton Community Woodland
- The Land Trust Project on a Poster of the Year – Phoenix park
As part of our new Project on a Poster initiative, Managing Partners were invited to pitch a project they were passionate about delivering on site. The winning proposal, voted for by fellow guests, was “Bringing the Ancient Forest Back to Phoenix Park.” The project will create a Bluebell and Wild Garlic Woodland, boosting biodiversity and providing a beautiful space for the local community to enjoy. The Phoenix Park team has been awarded £1,000 to bring their idea to life.
Countess of Chester Country Park in Cheshire

- The Land Trust – Best Community Space
Countess of Chester Country Park was recognised for its outstanding community impact, providing a welcoming environment and a diverse programme of activities including Forest School sessions, volunteering, wellbeing initiatives and NHS partnerships. The site brings people together while supporting physical health, mental wellbeing and stronger community connections.
