This year marks a very special milestone for us as we celebrate our 60th anniversary.
To mark the occasion, we are holding a mass public tree planting event in Camden, funded by the Mayor of London’s Greener City Fund, where everyone is invited to join in to help plant 3,500 new trees – it’s all free and lunch is provided!
Where and when?
Westcroft Close, West Hampstead, NW2 3RU
Saturday 23rd November 2019 – 11am to 2pm
Reaching 1 million trees!
These trees will go toward our mission to plant more than 1 million trees in the UK by the end of this year’s tree-planting season, thanks to TCV’s partnership with OVO Energy.
The event also marks the beginning of National Tree Week, which runs from 23rd November – 1st December.
Darren York, TCV Chief Executive, said: ‘I Dig Trees’ is a remarkable, award-winning programme. Hundreds of UK community groups have joined forces with voluntary, private and public sector organisations to address the climate emergency by planting trees.
We’re immensely grateful to OVO Energy for funding the programme and to the Mayor of London for supporting this and other planting events across the capital.
Darren York, TCV Chief Executive
For 60 years, TCV have been bringing together communities to improve and care for their green spaces and are encouraging as many people as possible to join in and help celebrate – creating a new hedgerow for this local nature reserve, which will benefit the wildlife of the local area, whilst also sequestering CO2 and pollution from the air.
