Glyn Parkes, a TCV project officer based in Biddulph, Staffordshire, recently attended the Biddulph in Bloom awards on the 22nd November. The local community group were celebrating winning a GOLD AWARD as overall winner in the large town category in the UK finals. Biddulph in Bloom also took home The RHS Britain in Bloom community award special commendation for outstanding achievement. The community group’s Chairman Hilda Sheldon MBE, also received the RHS Britain in Bloom community champion award.
Biddulph in Bloom are a voluntary group with Charity status who are trying to improve the environment of Biddulph and its surroundings and have been doing so for over 20 years. The community group work closely with The Conservation Volunteers in Biddulph on a number of projects.
At the award ceremony, Glyn accepted a certificate awarded to TCV from the leader of Biddulph in Bloom Mrs Hilda Sheldon MBE, which was awarded for all the support TCV have shown to the town.
The Event was well attended with over 100 local people, also visited by the Mayor of Staffordshire Moorlands and the Mayor of Biddulph town council.
