Scores of people have taken part in a tree planting event at a popular Lancashire park.
Armed with shovels and wellington boots, green-fingered volunteers of all ages took part in the community tree planting event at Ashton Park on Saturday afternoon.
The event followed a donation of 300 native trees.
The Friends of Ashton Park were allocated the trees by The Conservation Volunteers and the Forestry Commission, after they made an application to Preston Council.
The aim is for the group to enhance the environment, help the wildlife and improve the site for communities.
The event saw members of the community come together for the tree planting day.
Volunteers spent around two hours planting the trees in the sunshine.
Alison Burrow, chairman for the Friends of Ashton Park, said: “It went really well. We had applied for a grant for the trees, each year we are trying to plant new trees to increase the number of trees in the areas we have already planted.”
Matt Kelly, head of parks and horticulture at Preston Council, said: “We are 
delighted that the community was once again out in force to support the Friends of Ashton Park and the council with the Ashton Park tree planting event.
“The many trees that have been planted will enhance nature on the park and will be enjoyed by generations of park users to come.
“A big thank you to all those who took part. There are many more planned parks events coming up this year.
