The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge enjoyed the lovely surroundings of the Oasis Green Gym Garden when they visited the Oasis Leisure Centre in Camden on 9th July. Their visit marked the handover over of the British Sub-Aqua Club Presidency and Prince William even took a dip in the open air swimming pool.
TCV volunteers had put in many extra hours to ensure the Gym looked its best for the Royal visit and it was chosen as the venue for the Royal reception and speeches. Well done to all concerned.
A dedicated team of TCV volunteers have been working on the site since February 2013 and have donated a total of 2500 hours to create the Oasis Green Gym Garden. In that time they have developed a previously neglected space into a wildlife friendly, productive fruit and vegetable garden. Each week the volunteers share the produce and donate the surplus to the local St Mungo's Homeless Hostel.
The TCV Oasis Green Gym runs gardening sessions and workshops on food growing every Saturday from 10am-1pm. Green Gym sessions are free and open to everyone.
