We are thrilled to announce that players of People’s Postcode Lottery are supporting The Conservation Volunteers for a third year, with £550,000 of funding, bringing their total contribution to £1,475,000 since 2018.
Their continued and generous support allows TCV and our volunteering programmes to continue the important work that we do, helping people to enhance their health and wellbeing whilst gaining new skills and knowledge, and helping to improve our natural environment.
TCV is grateful for players of People’s Postcode Lottery who help to award over £486 million to good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
On behalf of the entire TCV team we would like to say a very big “thank you” to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Their ongoing support helps us to connect people and green spaces in Great Britain.
In these challenging, changing and uncertain times, there has never been more need for our work, so this funding of over half a million pounds is vital to helping us to create happier, healthier communities for everyone.Darren York, TCV Chief Executive
So, what exactly can we achieve with this funding?
With our 2020 funding, we are hoping to build on the work that we have done previously and making investments aligned to our strategic goals:
- Inspire more people to make a difference
- Secure more support for our work
- Use our resources to deliver the greatest impact
This year, with players of People’s Postcode Lottery’s support, we are able to offer membership to the TCV Community Network for a discounted rate of £10. This will help strengthen the community and ensure that our shared goals of making marked improvements to our green spaces continue.
We will also be able to host the 3rd consecutive TCV Hero Awards, at which staff, volunteers, funders and other partners come together to celebrate people and projects, and to showcase our work to both current and potential partners and supporters.
Other areas of TCV benefit greatly too from this funding, including our Business Development and Income Generation Managers, who can continue to build on their previous success by increasing their capacity to identify new funding opportunities.
Our Extra Award received through funding will see us launch a new traineeship in England in 2020. This will provide six trainees with a paid traineeship, helping them to develop not only their practical conservation skills but also soft transferable skills that will help them gain employment.
This is by no means the extent of the work that People’s Postcode Lottery’s funding will enable, but it is a snapshot of the work that the generous support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery facilitates.
We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all players of People’s Postcode Lottery for enabling us to create healthier and happier communities for everyone!
