We have a range of practical opportunities for people to get involved in volunteering at Skelton Grange - including wildlife surveys, training events and practical volunteer days.

Please see below for details and get in touch if you need any more information. We welcome new volunteers at all times, so please come along, but please get in touch to let us know if you're planning to come along to any of the events (there's a short registration form at the bottom of this page).

All events take place at Skelton Grange Environment Centre unless specified otherwise below.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for all events.

Regular Monday Volunteering - Green Gym

Green Gym participants will enjoy a range of activities aimed at improving health and wellbeing and taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the beautiful Skelton Grange site.

Meeting at 10.45am for an 11am start, activities will run until 2:30pm including sitting together for a free lunch, and may involve any of the following:

  •  Practical conservation – for instance managing woodland, looking after wildlife ponds, paths and meadows, woodworking and creating new structures
  • Fruit and vegetable gardening
  • Wildlife walks and surveys
  • Creating and maintaining wildlife friendly features including birdboxes and feeders
  • Seasonal crafts and artwork
  • Cooking and tasting sessions

All resources and equipment required will be provided; participants are encouraged to wear sturdy clothing and footwear that they don’t mind getting dirty.

Regular Friday Volunteering - The Green Team

Join the Green Team at Skelton Grange Environment Centre - regular opportunities for everyone to come along and help out with some practical tasks on our site. You don't need any experience, just enthusiasm! Please check individual dates and timings below and then please register your interest in these volunteering events using the form at the bottom of this page...

  • Please arrive from 9:30am for cup of tea ready for a 10:00am start.
  • Generally sessions run until 3:30pm unless advertised otherwise.
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting mucky, and dress for the weather.
