The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) Tree Nursery operations at Cultra have received a huge infrastructure boost thanks to NI Water, and their framework partners at McAdam Design and BSG.
TCV extend a heartfelt thank you for the commitment of professional expertise, equipment and installation of an irrigation system on our double span polytunnel. This precision designed system includes rainwater harvesting, timer settings and multi functions tailored to specific tree species water requirements, and growing methods.

This investment is both budget and time saving for TCV. Our Tree Nursery employee and volunteer Team can put their full focus on the more technical aspects of growing native trees from seed, confident that our young stock is regularly and reliably watered.
Edele Feenan, TCV Horticulture Production Lead, stated,
The professionalism of NI Water, McAdam Design and BSG throughout this project was of the highest standard, taking the time to involve TCV in all steps of design, decision and installation to ensure the system fully met our needs. Not only was this work completed sensitively to minimise environmental disruption, their attention to detail also makes it an extremely efficient and easy to use system. Not satisfied with installing the system, the combined partners added ‘bells and whistles’ finishing touches and training for our Tree Nursery team. We are extremely grateful for all this support.

Dianne Keys, TCV Assistant Director, stated,
With this infrastructure in place TCV Tree operations are now full speed ahead to increase the volume of quality native trees we grow per year (contributing to increasing the native tree coverage of NI). We can also focus on strengthen the green skills economy by offering transformative volunteering and training opportunities. Thank you to all partners.
