Become a Volunteer Officer

We are currently recruiting Volunteer Officers! To apply, please request an application form by emailing One of our team at: hollybush@tcv.org.uk

Grab your chance to volunteer with the UK’s leading practical conservation charity!

Either as a stepping stone to your career in the environment sector or as personal development, becoming a Key Volunteer is a unique experience and highly rewarding.

Learn practical skills while working on practical conservation projects in and around Leeds.

You will be responsible for organising and leading tasks and gain experience in volunteer coordination and project management. You will also have the opportunity to get involved with other projects and events, including fundraising, educational activity days, publicity and marketing.

As a Volunteer Officer, you will be trained by our experienced staff, as well as receiving formal training through The Conservation Volunteers’ training programmes. You will receive training in Leadership, Health and Safety, Tools, First Aid, Midas, Safeguarding. As you will be working with a diverse group of volunteers, training will also be provided in Mental Health First aid, working with people with learning disabilities, and Equality and Diversity.

You would need to commit to 3–5 days a week for 6 months.

Become a key volunteer

Can you spare 1 or 2 days a week to volunteer? Do you want to support other volunteers, vulnerable adults and young people? Can you give a regular commitment?

You could help support our Diploma students with coursework, or work with adults with learning disabilities at the Hollybush Learning Disability Project or join our Friends of Hollybush to organise and promote events and fundraising activities.

Referrals

If you wish you make a referral, or enquire about our referral procedure, please email us at hollybush@tcv.org.uk.

Claiming benefits

People often worry about how they will make ends meet if they choose to volunteer. The Conservation Volunteers is a registered charity and as such you are legally entitled to volunteer full time for The Conservation Volunteers and still claim Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and housing benefit, depending upon your domestic arrangements. Many (in fact most) of our staff have volunteered at some point and so please feel free to have a chat if you are unsure about your position.
