Support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery for a Covid-19 green recovery

July 2, 2021

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped to raise over £750 million for over 9,000 charities and good causes, and The Conservation Volunteers are celebrating receiving another £550,000 in 2021!

This extra funding through the Postcode Earth Trust will support a number of projects in England and Scotland, engaging young people in outdoor learning and traineeships, plus training for our staff, volunteers and community groups.

These projects will support a green recovery from Covid-19 through focused skills-based activity. We will target young people who have been most affected by the pandemic through disruption to their education and entry to employment.

We will also improve our organisational sustainability through investing in activities that focus on our most important asset: our staff, plus raise funds and increase our profile to enable us to reach more people.

Environmental sustainability will be another big focus as we plan towards net zero carbon emissions, with funding helping our transition to this level.

Darren York, TCV Chief Executive said: “I can’t begin to tell you how much difference this fantastic extra support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery will make.

“The last 18 months has felt so dark and gloomy at times for charities like The Conservation Volunteers and the good causes we support. This fantastic news feels like a welcome burst of sunshine on our important work to connect people and green spaces.”

Everyone at TCV says a huge “thank you” to all of the players of People’s Postcode Lottery who support us in connecting people and green spaces to deliver lasting outcomes for both.
