Our annual Dawn Chorus Walk will take place on Sunday 4th May from 6.30am to 8.30am – a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the early morning birdsong before the city wakes up – more details below. If you are up for a longer walk, InspiralLondon are organising a sound, urban ecology and heritage walk led by Charlie Fox, called Sanctuary, Refuge & Migration. This starts from outside the Gatehouse entrance of the Ecology Park after the Dawn Chorus event at 8.30am to arrive for the final events of Reveil soundcamp at Stave Hill Ecology Park. This gentle walk will take approx 2 hours and will follow along the Inspirallondon trail as it skirts the Thames offering new insights into the intricate and complex histories of human and non-human migration/interaction. This walk is part of BlackHistory 365 celebrations. See https://www.inspirallondon.com/events/
This walk also follows from Tidal Migrations Livestream remote listening on locussonus soundmap for International Dawn Chorus Day and Reveil 13 (3-4 May 2025). Artist and Inspirallondon associate Ian Thompson will be creating a livestream from the living roof of GPEP Gatehouse. This soundscape ranges across this unique urban wetland, nestled by the tidal Thames, near to its flow through the Thames Barrier.
