Discover how Siemens Mobility Limited is making a real difference through corporate volunteering with TCV – supporting biodiversity, improving access to nature for communities across the UK.
At The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), we believe that when nature thrives, people do too. That’s why we’re working across the UK to connect communities and corporate partners with the green spaces around them; whether it’s a city park, a hospital garden, or a hidden woodland. Through hands-on volunteering, we’re working together to protect and restore local environments, empower people to take action for nature, improve wellbeing through time outdoors, and build vital conservation and green skills. It’s all part of our mission to create better nature for all – connecting people to protect and restore nature, delivering lasting benefits for both.
So far this year, Siemens Mobility Limited has booked over 100 volunteer places with TCV, taking meaningful action for nature and communities. Across nine action days, their teams have been mucking in at green spaces across the UK, helping to restore biodiversity, improve access to nature, and support community wellbeing.
Connecting people and nature at Sale Water Park
At Sale Water Park in Manchester, Siemens Mobility Limited volunteers have been improving access for the public to the wildflower meadows – laying woodchip, installing log edging, and cutting back overgrowth. They’ve also crafted new flower bed borders using willow coppiced on-site, weeded and watered the beds, and potted up seeds for use in the local community allotment.
It was great to get a team out from Siemens Mobility Limited to help out at Sale Water Park. They all got to work with enthusiasm, and we got lots done!

Real impact: Biodiversity and community benefits
Before the work began, the meadow path was overgrown and uninviting to the public. Now, it’s a welcoming route that encourages local people to explore and connect with nature within the meadow. The new willow-woven flower beds not only enhance the site’s beauty, but they also showcase sustainable, nature-based solutions, making use of the natural materials abundantly available onsite.
I really enjoyed being out in nature. It felt really good to actually see the difference we had made.

Action across the UK
So far, Siemens Mobility Limited’s teams of volunteers have supported TCV projects at…
- West Heath Community Centre (Birmingham)
- Stobhill Hospital (Glasgow)
- Westfield Fen (York)
- Ley Hill Community Garden (Birmingham)
- Ingestre Woods (London)
- Rowheath Pavilion (Birmingham)
- Sale Water Park (Manchester)
…and across these sites, the brilliant volunteers have been involved with a wide variety of hands-on activities. This is part of Siemens Mobility’s approach to social value by working in collaboration with local communities to support their needs. They’ve been getting stuck into gardening and growing projects – planting, weeding, and potting up seeds for community allotments. Some have turned their hand to woodwork and upcycling, building and improving outdoor furniture and features. Others have helped manage grasslands and mixed habitats, supporting biodiversity and creating space for nature to thrive. And many have played a key role in improving access for everyone, clearing paths, laying woodchip, and making green spaces more welcoming and inclusive.

These activities directly support TCV’s goals to protect and restore local environments, empower people to take action for nature, and improve wellbeing through nature connection.
This is what TCV is all about: creating better nature for all.
Why corporate volunteering matters
Corporate volunteering days like these go far beyond team-building. They’re a powerful way for businesses to bring their ESG and CSR commitments to life – supporting climate action, restoring biodiversity, and creating greener, healthier communities. They also give employees the chance to step outside, connect with nature, and see the positive change they’re part of.
